Well the delegates have chosen their leaders to lead them into a new era under DS Najib. Lots of new faces and a lots of upset. My friends critizes me for following the political upheavel in UMNO and suggests to be apolitical. My contention is that politics is here to stay, the good and the bad, and we need to be aware as this will effect our next generations. They will either appreciate us or slam us for giving a bad political scene for them to live in when we are dead an d gone.
An observation of an armchair politician:
1) DS Najib has a lot of work to do. Lots of unpopular of decisions during Pak Lah administration, flip-flop decisions, money politics, economic recessions, bad management of GLC etc.Hope he is wise and strong enough.
2) Good Deputy President in Muhyiddin. Strong, calibre, able and team player. The only negative is that he looks a bit arrogant.
3) VP: My regret is that DS Khaled Nordin lost but overall good with old faces of Zahid Hamidi and Shafie Apdal flanking newbie Hishammuddin (new to the senior Umno)
3) MT: Good combination of 3 groups: a) The politicians
b) The intelectuals
c) The managements
I see that my senior at U, Datuk Dr Abdul Latif won. Congratulations
4) My only grouse is at Pemuda. How can a person leading up to the days leading to the assembly lost, not only lose but lose badly?. How can the Pemuda delegates elect somebody alleged to be corrupted (by Lembaga Disiplin but only given a slap on the wrist and banning Ali Rustam. That's another story. I abhor corruption and my feelings was that KJ should be banned)
Is this type future leader that we want, who someday might be PM?. I can conclude that the reasons that Mukhriz lost are due him not playing to the money politic game and he was not holding any post in the goverment or UMNO and people didn't really know his calibre.
5) Wanita: It's time somebody took over from Rafidah as she has been too long as the head and has no fresh ideas. Hopefully Shahrizat will lead the Wanita wing to greater heights with fresh and innovative ideas.
So in conclusion quite a well balance team except for KJ leading the Pemuda which I think will cause the fall of UMNO and Barisan in the next election.
